Mara Wilson | Writer

Mara Elizabeth Wilson rose to fame in the ‘90s as a child actress. She is mainly credited for playing the roles of Susan Walker in Miracle on 34th Street, Natalie Hilliard in Mrs. Doubtfire, Annabel Greening in A Simple Wish, Lily Stone in the film Thomas and the Magic Railroad, and the titular role in Matilda. As much as the then-child star grew to prominence, she landed fewer roles as she entered adulthood. She realized that she couldn’t get more acting roles as she grew out of her ‘cute’ phase.

As a consequence of getting fewer jobs as an actress, Wilson decided to pursue her other career interests and dove into writing. She took a 12-year hiatus from the limelight and wrote a play titled Sheeple and the book Where Am I Now?: True Stories of Girlhood and Accidental Fame.
