Michael Schoeffling | Entrepreneur
Michael Earl Schoeffling was once a popular model and Hollywood actor. After graduating from Temple University in Philadelphia, he started his career modeling for GQ. At the same time, his photographer, Bruce Weber, made the investments to enroll the budding star in acting classes. Soon enough, he landed a role in the coming-of-age film Sixteen Candles as sensitive high school athlete, Jake Ryan. He then made appearances in several films throughout the ‘80s, which include Vision Quest, Let’s Get Harry, Mermaids, Slaves of New York, Racing With The Moon, Sylvester, and Longtime Companion.
Despite gaining relative prominence in the industry, Schoeffling landed fewer roles and would retire from acting in the ‘90s. His last role was in the 1991 film Wild Hearts Can’t Be Broken. After his acting career, he started a woodworking shop where he produced handcrafted furniture.
